When Should You Start Orthodontic Treatment?

We recommend that patients receive their first orthodontic evaluation as early as seven years old. In this stage of development, Dr. Daia can proactively identify problems that may otherwise need correcting via more costly, painful, and invasive treatments once your child is fully developed.

Meet Dr. Hadi Daia DDS, MS, FRCD(C)

Only one in three orthodontists in the United States is Board-Certified, and Dr. Daia is one of them. Dr. Hadi Daia is one of the few specialists in Michigan that also treats orofacial discomfort and TMJ issues and enjoys providing this service to the Rochester Hills orthodontics community. He is a professional educator and advocates for medical advances and technology.

After taking a great interest in technology and what it could offer to TMD and Orofacial Pain, Dr. Daia published a book titled Low Level Laser Therapy for Management of Temporomandibular Disorders (2011). This extensive research motivated Dr. Daia in his pursuit to maintain a healthy, functional musculoskeletal system while perfecting the smile.

Dentist vs Orthodontist

Many people often wonder what the difference is between Dentists and Orthodontists, especially because both are professionals responsible for caring for the mouth and teeth and are dental school graduates. While an orthodontist has completed the same educational requirements as a dentist, they pursued additional professional education and training in the specialized field of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Orthodontists, in most cases, do not practice general dentistry. They have become bioengineering experts in tooth movement techniques, earning them the title “Orthodontist.” This makes them the only qualified medical specialist equipped to deal with the facial and tooth structures and aesthetics to create beautiful, healthy, pain-free smiles through various treatment options.

Orthodontics is a powerful science that improves the health, wellness, and aesthetics of the face, and new technologies in the field make receiving treatment easier than ever when facilitated by a board-certified orthodontist. Place your future smile in the hands of a trained specialist recognized by their peers focused on realizing your goals while helping you achieve comprehensive oral wellness and reap the benefits of your investment for the rest of your life.
